We have teamed up with Soda stream to promote the campaign 'A WORLD WITHOUT BOTTLES' to raise awareness on the devastating effects the production, distribution and consequential bottled wastage has on the environment.
In the UK, on average every household uses 500 plastic bottles each year, of which just 130 are recycled and 11% of household waste is plastic, 40% of which is plastic bottles. Source - www.recycle-more.co.uk
We are committed as a company to raise awareness to consumers on the benefits of precycling, the practice of reducing waste before recycling is necessary. According to our research 43% of consumers recycle less than half of their bottled waste. Our emphasis is on reducing and reusing.
Our Active green products, simple facts -
1 point of use filtration unit can replace over 13,000 one litre bottles over a three year period.
One soda stream cylinder makes up to 60 litres or 180 cans of beverage and when empty can be refilled and reused.
One soda stream reusable bottle can make up as many as 50,000 litres of carbonated drink.
Our point of use water cooler can take the place of one of the half million bottle fed water coolers installed in the uk today. Eliminating most of the negative environmental issues which are connected with the production of bottles and their transport.
Active green product definition - Consumers are actively reducing their CO2 footprint every time they make a carbonating or still drink from a tap or filter instead of buying a bottled drink from a supermarket or retailer. The more our products are used on a daily basis, the more the users CO2 footprint is reduced.

PLASTIC IS NOT FANTASTIC!
AS A NATION WE OVER CONSUME IN PARTICULAR THE PURCHASING OF WATER AND SOFT DRINKS. CONSUMER GROUPS ESTIMATE THAT WE BUY 13 BILLION PLASTIC BOTTLES OF WATER IN THE UK EACH YEAR OF THOSE WE RECYCLE 3 BILLION AND DISCARD AN INCREDIBLE 10 BILLION.
PLASTIC IS INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE TO PRODUCE
PLASTIC IS INCREDIBLY HARD TO BREAKDOWN
PLASTIC IS INCREDIBLY BAD FOR THE PLANET
ONLY 20% IS RECYCLED PROPERLY
LAND FILL SITES ARE FULL TO BURSTING THE WORLD OVER
What it takes to manufacture PET plastic bottles - used in most ready to drink bottles, the non profit making Berkeley ecology center found that the manufacture of plastic type 1 uses large amounts of energy and resources and generates toxic emissions that contribute in global warming.
2.7 million tons of plastic are used for the production of ready to drink water bottles every year most of this ends up as rubbish or in landfills.(Container recycling institute).
100 million barrels of oil - that is the amount of oil that is used to produce the plastic for bottled water each year. (Emily Arnold & Janet Larson pouring bottled water down the drain earth policy institute feb 2 2006).
Every bottle produced requires nearly five times its volume in water to manufacture.
REUSING PET BOTTLES - Health advocates recommend not reusing bottles made from plastic #1 (polyethylene terephthalate, also known as PET or PETE), including most disposable water, soda and juice bottles. According to the green guide such bottles may be safe for one time use, but reuse should be avoided because studies indicate they may leach DEHP - another probable human carcinogen - when they are less than in perfect condition.
Safer choices include bottles crafted from safer HDPE (plastic #2), low density polyethylene (LDPE, AKA plastic #4) or polypropylene (pp, or plastic #5). Aluminium bottles, such as those made by SIGG and sold in many natural food and natural product markets, and stainless steel water bottles are also safe choices and can be reused repeatedly and eventually recycled. Source (earth talk).
Distribution
22 Million tons of bottled water is consumed outside its country of origin, resulting in massive transportation requirements which add to pollution and congestion problems the world over.
Storage
Once the ready to drink bottles have reached their destination they have to be stored and await either further transportation or they are left until required, could be days..weeks... but one things for sure it is not going to be as mountain fresh as the adverts would have you believe.
Here are some more staggering stats :
It takes 450 years for one plastic bottle to degrade completely.
Waste- 340,000,000,000 bottles and cans are not recycled every year (euro monitor beverage packaging).
Consumer groups estimate that we buy 13 BILLION plastic bottles of water in the U. K each year, of those we recycle some 3 billion, and throw away an incredible 10 billion.
933 billion bottles and cans worldwide are not recycled in a three year period.
The energy required to make water bottles in the USA alone is the equivalent to 17 million barrels of oil (container recycling institute 2002).
Bottle water in some shops and restaurants is more expensive per litre than petrol!
